Iran announces that two bridges, a highway and a railway were damaged in US-Israeli strikes

At least two bridges, a railway infrastructure and a major highway were damaged on Tuesday, Iranian officials said, as a result of a series of US-Israeli air strikes that targeted infrastructure, causing deaths and injuries.
A bridge near the holy city of Qom and a railway bridge in the city of Kashan in the center of the country were targeted, according to official media, quoting local officials.
The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quoted the Deputy Governor of Isfahan, Akbar Salehi, as saying, “America and Israel launched an attack on the Yahya Abad railway bridge in the city of Kashan. The attack resulted in the death of two people and the wounding of three others.”
A major highway in northern Iran linking the main city of Tabriz to Tehran via Zanjan was also closed after being targeted about 90 kilometers from Tabriz, an official told IRNA.
A channel affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard on the Telegram application reported that the raid targeted an overhead bridge.
In turn, Mizan News Agency reported an air strike on railway lines in Karaj near Tehran, and published pictures showing members of the Red Crescent transporting a wounded man on a stretcher.
All train trips to and from Mashhad, the second largest city in Iran, were canceled on Tuesday, following an Israeli warning against using the railway lines.
The Student News Agency (ISNA) reported that electricity was cut off in parts of the cities of Karaj and Fardas, located near Tehran, after air strikes disrupted power transmission lines and a substation.
Kharg Island in southwestern Iran was also subjected to several strikes on Tuesday, according to what was reported by the Iranian Mehr News Agency.
The agency said that “several explosions” were heard on the strategic island located off the western coast of Iran, from which Iranian oil is exported and which is of great importance to the country.
According to a post by journalist Barak Ravid on X, citing an American official, the United States carried out “strikes on military targets” on that island.
For its part, the Israeli army announced that it carried out a wide wave of strikes targeting “infrastructure sites,” without specifying the nature of these sites.
US President Donald Trump threatened Iran with destroying bridges and power stations as the deadline set for it to open the Strait of Hormuz expired at midnight, Tuesday, Wednesday, GMT.
