Guterres expresses his “deep concern” about Trump’s recent statements about Iran

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday expressed concern over US President Donald Trump’s warning that “an entire civilization” would be wiped out in Iran if the country did not respond to an ultimatum to accept US war demands.

The Secretary-General’s spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, said in a statement to reporters, “The Secretary-General is very concerned about the statements that we heard yesterday and again this morning, statements that suggest that an entire people or an entire civilization may bear the consequences of political and military decisions.”
