The UAE strongly condemns the storming and vandalism of the Kuwaiti Consulate in Basra

Abu Dhabi, 8 April / WAM / The UAE condemned and denounced in the strongest terms the acts of storming and vandalism that targeted the headquarters of the Consulate General of the sisterly State of Kuwait in the city of Basra, and the blatant attacks that accompanied them.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the UAE’s categorical rejection of such subversive practices, stressing the necessity of protecting diplomatic headquarters, missions and their employees in accordance with international laws and norms, especially the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which guarantees complete immunity for diplomatic buildings and their employees.

The UAE called on the government of the sisterly Republic of Iraq to carry out its necessary and legal duties in securing the consulate headquarters and its workers, to investigate the circumstances of these attacks, to ensure that they are not repeated in the future, and to take all necessary legal measures to hold those responsible accountable.
