Honoring Solaf Fawakherji at the opening of the 10th Aswan International Women’s Film Festival

Management announced Aswan International Women’s Film Festival Honoring the Syrian artist Sulaf Fawakherji During the opening ceremony of its tenth session, scheduled from April 20 to 26 this year Aswan.

The festival administration explained that this honor comes in appreciation of her rich artistic career, during which she presented prominent cinematic works in cooperation with great directors, through which she reflected Arab women’s issues.

She added that Fawakherji is distinguished by her awareness of the role of women in the film industry, as she not only acted alongside prominent names such as Abdul Latif Abdul Hamid andSherif ArafaShe also had directing experience with the film “Cherry Letters” in 2015.

The artist’s origins go back to LatakiaShe is a graduate of the Faculty of Archeology Damascus UniversityShe also studied painting and sculpture. She began her cinematic career in 1997 through the film “Al-Tirhal” with the director Raymond Boutrosbefore collaborating again with Abdul Latif Abdul Hamid In “The Breeze of the Soul”.

She went through the Egyptian cinema experience through the movie “Halim” in 2006 with Sherif ArafaAnd “Baby Doll Night” in 2007 with Adel AdeebIn addition to continuing her activity in Syrian cinema, she presented “Hasiba” in 2008 with Raymond Boutros In their second collaboration.

She also participated in several films, including “Hawa” with Monk OasisAnd “Maryam” and “Mother” with Basil Al-Khatibin addition to “Waiting for Autumn” and “Salma” with Jude is happy.

The new edition of the festival is witnessing wide participation, with 65 films from 33 countries being screened, competing in the feature and short film competitions, in addition to the European Union Euro-Mediterranean Film Competition, and the “Films with Impact”, “Films of the South” and “Workshop Films” competitions dedicated to supporting young talents.
