"Emirates Talent Sponsorship" Includes 4 players for the program "Path of a champion athlete"

DUBAI, April 10, 2018 (WAM) – The Emirates Committee for Nurturing Sports Talents and Supporting National Sports announced the inclusion of 4 promising talents in the cycling and car sports, Drifting, in the committee’s sponsorship programmes.

The list announced today consists of Khalifa Al Falasi, a drifting motorsport player, and 3 cyclists: Falah Al Nuaimi, Sultan Saud, and Afra Khaled.

These details were announced at a press conference held today, at the Dubai Autodrome in the Motor City area in Dubai, in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Assistant Undersecretary for the Sports Development and Competitiveness Sector at the Ministry of Sports, Chairman of the Committee, and Engineer Mansour Bu Oseiba, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Cycling Federation.

His Excellency Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum stressed that the completion of the “Sports Champion Path” program reflects the continuity of institutional work to develop sports talent in the country, under the supervision of the Ministry of Sports, and in cooperation with the UAE Olympic Committee, the Emirates Committee for Elite and High-Level Sports, and all components of the national sports sector, in addition to expanding the scope of support provided by the committee to include specific sports that contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of the national sports sector.

He added: Through the committee’s talent nurturing programs, we are keen to provide an integrated professional environment to keep pace with the aspirations of athletes and enable them to achieve the best results at the regional and international levels. We believe that investing in young talent is the basis for creating UAE sports champions and consolidating the country’s position on the global sports map.

He added that the expansion of including specialized sports such as drifting and cycling consolidates their vision of adopting various talents and opening new horizons for them to achieve excellence and achievement.

Engineer Mansour Bouassiba stressed that the joining of a number of cyclists in the program is an important step in the development of the game, and embodies the success of the joint efforts to discover and nurture talent in the country, as we work alongside various concerned parties to support young talents and provide the appropriate environment to develop their abilities in accordance with best practices, which contributes to preparing a generation capable of achieving distinguished results and representing the country in an honorable manner in regional and international forums.

He pointed out that the next stage will witness a focus on expanding the base of players practicing the game, and strengthening programs to prepare and qualify players from different age groups, in line with the country’s ambitions to achieve qualitative achievements at the continental and international levels, especially since investing in talent is the best way to build future champions.

The players described the step as a qualitative stage to develop their capabilities, empower them with skills and qualify them to raise the UAE’s flags in foreign forums. They said that the program provides a stimulating and advanced environment through specialized training events, and internal and external camps, under professional supervision.
