Sharjah Club leads the UAE Individual Chess Championship under 16 years

ABU DHABI, 12 APRIL/WAM/ Sharjah Cultural Chess Club players topped the UAE Individual Rapid Chess Championship competitions for the under-16 category, which was organized by the Emirates Chess Federation in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Chess and Mind Games Club, and concluded in Abu Dhabi with the participation of 144 male and female players.
Safin Safarullah Khan won first place in the junior category with 6.5 points from 7 rounds, followed by Rashid Hussein Al Hammadi second, and Sultan Al Muhairi third, all from the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club.
In the junior women’s category, Asina Golizadeh, a Kalba Club player, won first place with 6 points, ahead of Shamma Khalfan Al Suwaidi from the Dubai Chess Club, while Ohoud Issa from the Sharjah Girls Chess and Culture Club came in third with 5.5 points.
Dr. Sultan Ali Al-Taher, head of the technical staff of the Chess Federation, confirmed that the tournament reflected an advanced technical level and a noticeable development in the base of male and female players.
