Iran is considering suspending oil shipments through Hormuz to avoid obstructing negotiations

Informed sources revealed that Tehran is considering suspending oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz for a short period, in order to avoid testing the naval blockade imposed by US President Donald Trump, and to make way for a new round of expected peace talks.

According to Bloomberg News, this step reflects an Iranian desire to avoid direct military escalation at a diplomatically sensitive time, as the two parties seek to arrange a direct meeting before the end of the truce next week, which makes halting navigation for several days a practical measure to build confidence and enhance the chances of successful negotiations.

Sources told Reuters on Tuesday that it is possible that the American and Iranian negotiating teams will return to Islamabad this week to resume talks on ending the war, after the collapse of talks over the weekend prompted the United States to impose a blockade on Iranian ports.
