Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority and"Aldar Real Estate" They organize the Community Respondent School Safety Forum

Abu Dhabi, April 16 / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority organized the Community Responder Forum for School Safety in cooperation with Aldar Properties, with the aim of attracting educational and supervisory personnel to join the “Community Responder” programme, enhancing their readiness to deal with emergency situations within the school environment and in their daily lives.

The forum discussed five main topics, which included introducing the community responder system, guidelines for safe return to schools, awareness of school safety procedures, in addition to reviewing awareness scenarios about evacuation procedures and dealing with various incidents, which contributes to building a safe school environment.

Brigadier Mohsen Saeed Al Mansouri, Director of the Emergency and Public Safety Sector at the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority, told WAM that the Community Responder application was launched with the aim of involving community members in civil defense operations as a first responder to accidents and supporting civil defense teams before they arrive at the scene of accidents in a manner commensurate with their abilities and qualifications. The education sector also benefits from the application as a support for the educational environment and to build a generation aware of the culture of volunteering and opening the door to volunteering at specific ages for students and educational staff to participate in the Community Responder application.

The Civil Defense Authority confirmed its interest in qualifying educational and supervisory cadres and enabling them to respond quickly and effectively. In this context, specialized training programs were provided that focused on safety concepts in educational buildings, mechanisms for dealing with risks within schools, and enhancing awareness of preventive measures in various vital facilities, with the aim of preparing cadres capable of protecting students and workers.

Salwa Al Muflhi, Executive Director of Sustainability and Community Outreach at Aldar, said that their cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority represents a continuation of their strategy to build and support safe and prosperous communities, noting that 150 members of Aldar Education, affiliated with Aldar Group, are participating in the training to ensure their readiness to support students.

Dr. Asmaa Manea Al Otaiba, Head of the Zayed Search and Rescue Team, stressed the role of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority and its keenness to educate the public from all segments of UAE society and raise its level of preparedness for emergency situations.

The forum presented an overview of the second phase of the “Our Community is Ready” campaign, which is implemented by the Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Center of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in cooperation with partners, and its role in enhancing community awareness and enabling individuals to deal with emergencies responsibly. The Authority also showed a video explaining how volunteers respond to reports before the competent authorities arrive.

The community responder system contributes to building an aware and proactive society that supports official efforts when facing challenges, and embodies the Authority’s efforts to enhance volunteer work as a basic pillar of the public safety system and improve the quality of life in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
