Training begins for 50 citizens within the first batch of “Emirati Tax Agent”

The Federal Tax Authority and the New Economy Academy announced the start of training for 50 citizens within the first batch of the “Emirati Tax Agent Programme,” which aims to empower Emirati competencies and qualify a new generation of certified tax agents.

The program comes within the national campaign “The UAE is the Entrepreneurial Capital of the World,” launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, with the aim of consolidating the UAE’s position as a global destination for entrepreneurship.

The program aims to license 500 Emirati tax agents within three years, as part of an intensive training program to practice the activity of an accredited tax agent within two specialized diplomas: “Value Added Tax Diploma” and “Corporate Tax Diploma.”

25 citizens participate in the “Value Added Tax Diploma,” and it deals with the legal and regulatory framework for tax, registration mechanisms and preparing tax returns, dealing with accounting records and complying with tax obligations, in addition to professional applications and case studies. The “Corporate Tax Diploma” includes 25 participants, and reviews the basics of the corporate and business tax system in the Emirates, registration procedures, tax disclosures and returns, and calculating accounting profit and income subject to corporate tax.

The Director General of the Federal Tax Authority, Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Mulla, confirmed that “the start of actual training for those affiliated with the first cycle of the (Emirati Tax Agent Programme) is an important step that contributes to increasing reliance on Emirati competencies in the tax system,” noting that the program aims to empower and qualify a new generation of accredited tax agents, by providing integrated training programs dedicated to citizens to obtain specialized tax diplomas.

He said: “The memorandum of understanding enhances the frameworks of cooperation and strategic partnership between the two sides, to expand specialized training and encourage continuous learning to enhance tax culture, in line with the authority’s plans to maintain a tax environment that encourages compliance in accordance with the best standards of governance and transparency. This step also opens new horizons for cooperation to hone the professional competencies of citizens working in the tax field and related sectors in general.”

Al-Mulla stressed the Authority’s keenness to give priority to encouraging citizens to work as certified tax agents, by providing them with the necessary facilities and support to work in this promising sector, after actual professional practice over the past years has proven that citizens are capable of excellence and interaction with the tax and financial work system with great efficiency.

In turn, the CEO of the New Economy Academy, Dr. Leila Faridoun, confirmed that the “Emirati Tax Agent” embodies the Academy’s commitment to developing the skills of national competencies and preparing them for the requirements of the modern economy, by providing advanced training programs that contribute to qualifying a new generation of specialists in the tax sector, in a way that enhances the sustainability of the national economy and supports the country’s global competitiveness.
