Ghobash meets with the President of the Moroccan Council of Councillors

Istanbul, April 20 / WAM / His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, President of the Federal National Council, met with His Excellency Mohamed Ould Rachid, President of the House of Advisors of the Kingdom of Morocco, on the sidelines of the 152nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Istanbul.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency Saqr Ghobash affirmed the UAE’s appreciation for the supportive Moroccan position, especially in condemning the Iranian terrorist attacks that targeted the UAE and a number of countries in the region, praising the firm fraternal positions that reflect the depth of relations between the two countries.
His Excellency pointed out that the Iranian attacks represent a blatant violation of the principles of international law and a direct threat to the security and stability of the region, stressing the importance of the solidarity of sister countries in facing common challenges and preserving the security and sovereignty of countries.
His Excellency pointed out that the UAE was subjected to attacks with missiles and drones as part of the Iranian terrorist attacks that targeted a number of countries in the region, stressing that despite this, the UAE, with the courage and cohesion of its people, was an impenetrable bulwark in the face of these attacks and a shield that protects its sovereignty, security and stability.
The two sides also discussed the dangerous developments and repercussions the region is witnessing that affect regional and international security and stability, and whose effects extend to the security of international navigation, energy supplies, and supply chains, which negatively affects the stability of the global economy.
The two sides pointed to the importance of building on the distinguished relations that bring together the two brotherly countries and peoples, to enhance various aspects of joint parliamentary cooperation, in a way that serves the aspirations and hopes of their peoples for development, prosperity and stability.
His Excellency congratulated His Excellency Mohamed Ould Rachid on the occasion of his election as President of the Assembly of Senates and Shura Councils in Africa.
The two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the UAE and the Kingdom of Morocco, especially at the parliamentary level, through activating parliamentary friendship committees and intensifying coordination and consultation on issues of common interest in regional and international forums.
For his part, His Excellency the Chairman of the Council of Advisors in the Kingdom of Morocco stressed his country’s keenness to strengthen its relations with the UAE, stressing the importance of joint work to confront the current challenges and support everything that would achieve security and stability in the region.
His Excellency stressed the importance of strengthening the role of parliamentary diplomacy in supporting the growing bilateral relations between the two countries, enhancing aspects of cooperation and dialogue, converging viewpoints, and supporting various efforts to resolve regional and international issues.
The two sides stressed the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation and coordination between the two chambers, unifying positions, visions and orientations regarding various issues of common interest, exchanging support in various regional and international parliamentary forums, especially in the Inter-Parliamentary Union, working to support mutual nominations between the two sides, exchanging parliamentary experiences, knowledge and practices, and benefiting from the pioneering experience of the two chambers.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Khaled Al-Kharji, Member of the Federal National Council, Afra Al-Basti, Assistant Secretary-General for Parliamentary Communications, and Tariq Al-Marzouqi, Assistant Secretary-General for Council Presidency Affairs.
