المملكة: Restructuring the Saudi Alliance for Agricultural Technologies to enhance food security

The Undersecretary for Research and Innovation, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Malik, stressed that restructuring the alliance is a strategic step towards development, after the alliance succeeded in becoming the center of attention for a number of relevant parties, indicating that the restructuring of the alliance comes to enhance the integration of efforts between those parties, and expand institutional partnerships; In a way that contributes to supporting food security and achieving sustainability.

Modern Technologies

Dr. Al-Malik explained that the Ministry is working, as part of its efforts to localize technologies and build national capabilities, to strengthen the innovation system, by developing a stimulating environment for the adoption of modern technologies, in a way that supports sustainable development and consolidates the Kingdom’s position as a leading regional center in agricultural and food innovation, in line with achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

In addition, the Steering Committee announced The Saudi Alliance for Agricultural and Food Technologies announced the launch of an award for the best leaders who have had an impact in the agricultural sector during its quarterly meeting within the activities of the World Creativity and Innovation Day, which discussed the most prominent challenges and opportunities, and reviewed the latest technical solutions. It was also announced during the meeting that the Ministries of Investment, Communications and Information Technology had joined the Alliance. In a step that reflects the integration of government efforts to support innovation and achieve sustainable impact.

National Platform

It is noteworthy that the Saudi Alliance for Agricultural and Food Technologies is a national platform that brings together more than 150 entities from 12 countries, working to develop and apply modern technologies in the fields of smart agriculture, water efficiency, food manufacturing, and Blue Economy; In order to enhance the efficiency of the sector and achieve its sustainability, the alliance includes stakeholders from government agencies, the private sector, and research bodies, and contributes to developing policies, transferring and localizing technologies, and building national capabilities.
