المملكة: The Secretariat of the Holy Capital raises the readiness of roads and facilities in preparation for Hajj


The Secretariat of the Holy Capital field works to raise the readiness of the road network and public facilities in preparation for the Hajj season 1447 AH, through the implementation of comprehensive operation and maintenance programs aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the infrastructure, improving the quality of the urban landscape in Mecca and Holy Sites.

During the past period, the Secretariat implemented a wide package of rehabilitation and development works, which included (45,800 m²) of asphalt works, (1,806 m²) of interlock works, in addition to (2,829 m²) for maintenance of concrete surfaces, and (6,453 m²) of washing and cleaning tunnels; In a way that enhances the readiness of the vital axes leading to the Grand Mosque and the holy sites, and raises the efficiency of the infrastructure to serve the guests of God.

Maintenance and rehabilitation

The secretariat completed the maintenance of (1,940) lighting poles and (72) toilets, in addition to implementing environmental improvement works that included planting (13,500 square meters) of natural grass, and planting (1,740) trees, And (1,500) flowering seedlings; In support of efforts to improve the urban landscape and improve the quality of life.

Within the framework of seasonal preparations, the Holy Capital Municipality continues to implement an integrated program for the maintenance and rehabilitation of roads and main axes, which includes sweeping and asphalt work, maintenance of sidewalks, tunnels and bridges, repainting traffic signs, in addition to treating potholes, cracks and cuts, and repairing subsidences. To ensure the safety of road users from Guests of God.

Development projects

The Secretariat worked at the same time to open new roads and benefit from the completed parts of a number of development projects. This contributes to enhancing traffic flow and reducing pressure on vital axes during the season.

In its efforts, the Municipality relies on a wide network of infrastructure that includes (73,869,341 m²) of roads in Mecca with a length of (11,303,114) linear meters, in addition to (4,688,386 m²) of roads in the Holy Sites with a length of (274,832) metres. Longitudinally.

Safety and smoothness

It supervises a lighting system that includes (145,000) poles and lighting towers in Mecca, and (5,000) poles in the Holy Sites, in addition to a network of bridges that includes (123) bridges in Mecca, and (20) bridges in the Holy Sites. This reflects the extent of the efforts made to ensure the readiness of roads, and raise the level of safety and smoothness during the Hajj season.

The secretariat confirmed that development work is continuing to raise the efficiency of the infrastructure and improve the quality of the roads. This ensures safer and smoother roads, and enhances the experience of the pilgrims during the Hajj journey.
