The 51Talk platform supports the UAE Ministry of Education’s move to shift to teaching science and mathematics in English

Within the framework of the directives of the Ministry of Education in the United Arab Emirates to adopt the English language to teach science and mathematics starting from the ninth grade, starting from the 2026-2027 academic year, the educational sector is witnessing intense movements to prepare for this transformation. In this context, the 51Talk platform is working to adapt its programs to support students in adapting to this new academic trend.
This decision represents a strategic shift that requires students, especially those moving from the Arabic language education system, to be familiar with advanced scientific and technical terminology. Experts confirm that early preparation in grades five to eight is vital to avoid difficulties that may result from trying to comprehend complex scientific content in a new language at the same time.
51Talk revealed that more than 4,000 students in the UAE have joined its platform, between the ages of 4 and 14 years. The platform relies on providing live lessons (one-on-one) with internationally certified teachers, focusing on curricula in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The platform’s role goes beyond mere indoctrination, as it aims to enhance the student’s confidence through direct interaction and stimulating educational content that helps him smoothly absorb technical terminology.
In parallel with academic excellence, 51Talk continues to support Emirati talent globally. One of its students from Abu Dhabi represented the country at the COP30 climate conference in Brazil, and another student is scheduled to be selected to participate in an international educational trip to Beijing this year.
As the date for implementing the ministerial decision approaches, awareness of the necessity of adopting a proactive educational approach is increasing, as educators believe that a solid linguistic foundation is the basic foundation for ensuring students’ excellence in scientific subjects in the English language.
