King Charles visits New York to commemorate the victims of the September 11 attacks

King Charles of Britain and his wife, Queen Camilla, will arrive in New York on Wednesday to commemorate the victims of the terrorist attacks that targeted the city on September 11, 2001, as part of a four-day state visit to the United States.

The King and Queen’s scheduled arrival in New York comes after a busy day in Washington yesterday, Tuesday, where Charles delivered a speech before the US Congress, held closed meetings with President Donald Trump amid tensions between the United States and the United Kingdom over the war with Iran, and also met with leaders of the American technology sector.

During an official dinner at the White House on Tuesday evening, Trump indicated that Charles told him that he supports ending Iran’s nuclear program. The King does not speak on behalf of the British government, and it could not be confirmed that he made this statement to Trump. The British Prime Minister and Buckingham Palace have not yet responded to requests for comment.

Charles and Camilla will begin their day in New York by attending a ceremony at the September 11 Memorial in lower Manhattan, where Al-Qaeda suicide bombers destroyed the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, in an attack that killed nearly 2,800 people. Charles is expected to meet New York City Mayor Zahran Mamdani during the ceremony.

The king will then head to Harlem to visit a local community organization that has launched an after-school agricultural initiative aimed at combating food insecurity. These projects have been a passion of the king for decades.
