Khawla Al Suwaidi: Culture and art are the bridge of creating hope in children’s lives

ABU DHABI, 29 APRIL / WAM / Her Highness Sheikha Khawla bint Ahmed Khalifa Al Suwaidi, wife of His Highness Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi, National Security Advisor, and President of Khawla Arts and Culture, confirmed that the UAE believes that culture and art constitute a real bridge towards creating hope and the future, especially in the lives of children.
This came on the occasion of the “Make a Wish” Foundation’s cooperation with the Khawla Foundation for Arts and Culture, in fulfilling the wish of the child Hoor (15 years old), coinciding with World Wish Day, and within the “Year of the Family” initiatives, under the directives of the wife of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Advisor to His Highness the President of the State, Sheikha Sheikha bint Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the “Make a Wish” Foundation.
Her Highness Sheikha Khawla bint Ahmed Khalifa Al Suwaidi said that embracing the talent of the child, “Hoor,” is not just artistic support, but rather an investment in her talent and will, and giving her a space to express herself and transform her experience into a source of inspiration for others.
She added that art has a unique ability to reshape challenges into the image of beauty, which is what we saw in the story of Hour, which reflects the strength of a person when he finds someone who believes in him.
Her Highness explained that cooperation with the “Make a Wish” Foundation comes within an integrated vision that aims to empower children and give them the opportunities they deserve to dream and create despite the challenges, noting that these initiatives translate the concept of the “Year of the Family” in its highest sense, as community efforts are integrated to support children and their families.
Her Highness stressed that the Khawla Foundation for Arts and Culture will continue its role in nurturing emerging talents and opening new horizons for them, so that art remains a vibrant humanitarian message that reflects the bright face of the UAE and its established values of giving and solidarity.
For her part, Sheikha Sheikha bint Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan said, “On World Wish Day, which falls on April 29 of each year, and as part of our initiatives in the Year of the Family, we celebrate human moments that make a real difference in the lives of children, and the story of Hoor represents the essence of our message of transforming pain into hope, as fulfilling her wish today is not just an event, but a profound humanitarian message that confirms our firm commitment to making children and their families happy, and enhancing the presence of the noble values on which the UAE was founded, and we express our deepest gratitude.” Our thanks and gratitude to Her Highness Sheikha Khawla bint Ahmed Khalifa Al Suwaidi for her generous support and embrace of this inspiring initiative, which embodies the highest meanings of integration between culture and humanitarian work, and opens new horizons for children to achieve their dreams with confidence and hope.”
“Hoor,” who spent many months outside the country receiving treatment, found in drawing her own window into the light, and her means of expressing her feelings and overcoming challenges, until her dream became clear: to be an artist and painter whose creativity will be celebrated one day. From this dream, the journey of realizing her wish began, to be translated into a living reality that reflects the essence of the humanitarian mission of the UAE.
In cooperation with the Khawla Foundation for Art and Culture, an artistic tour was designed for Hoor, where she was received at the foundation’s headquarters with the “Make a Wish” team, and she was shown artworks and manuscripts created by an elite group of artists and calligraphers, in a cultural experience that strengthened her passion and expanded her creative horizons.
She was also provided with all professional artistic tools, marking the real beginning of her artistic career.
In a humanitarian gesture, Emirati artist Fares Al Hammadi was keen to come specifically to meet Hoor, stressing his support for her talent and his belief in her promising abilities, and his keenness to train her and develop her skills through an integrated training program with weekly sessions over two months at the Foundation’s headquarters, giving her a real opportunity to hone her talent and move confidently towards achieving her dream.
