"Journalists Association" Celebrates World Press Freedom Day

Dubai, 2 May / WAM / The Emirates Journalists Association has confirmed that the free and responsible media represents the first line of defense for national awareness, and is an essential partner in protecting national security and the stability of societies.
She said in a statement on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, which falls on May 3 of each year: “In light of the challenges facing the region, most notably the aggressive policies pursued by Iran towards the Gulf states, the association stresses that the role of the media is not limited to conveying the news, but rather extends to revealing the facts, confronting disinformation campaigns, and enhancing public awareness of the extent of the threats targeting the security and sovereignty of states.”
The association noted that freedom of the press is coupled with national responsibility and adherence to professional standards, in a way that preserves the stability of society, enhances its cohesion, and prevents the exploitation of media platforms to spread chaos or promote hostile agendas.
The association also renewed its support for every professional media effort that contributes to protecting the national narrative, defending the state’s interests, and consolidating Gulf unity in the face of common challenges, noting that conscious media is not neutral in the face of threats, but rather stands on the side of the truth and plays its role in maintaining national security and enhancing stability.
