Two new gates of the “Darb” system will be operational in Abu Dhabi tomorrow

The Integrated Transport Center “Abu Dhabi Transport”, affiliated with the Department of Municipalities and Transport, announced the start of the activation and operation of two new toll gates within the “Darb” system in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, starting tomorrow, Monday, May 4, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The implementation and operation of the two gates in cooperation with Q Mobility Company comes as part of the center’s efforts to enhance the flow of traffic on main roads, improve the efficiency of using the road network, and reduce congestion, especially during peak periods.

The center determined the locations of the two new gates; The first is located in the Ghantoot area on Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Street, while the second is located on Wahat Al Karama Street at the entrance and exit of Sheikh Zayed Road.

The center explained that the selection of these two locations was based on specialized traffic studies, which took into account the density of traffic, patterns of movement, and the availability of alternative roads in their surroundings. The Al Qurm Toll Gate location on Wahat Al Karama Street allows drivers to use Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Street or Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street as alternative routes, while the Ghantoot Toll Gate location allows road users to choose Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Street as an alternative route.

Regarding fees, the center stated that a fee of 4 dirhams will be applied for each crossing, with an emphasis on continuing to grant an exemption for one vehicle for the following categories, which include senior citizens, people of determination, people with limited income, and retired citizens.

The Integrated Transport Center confirmed that the addition of the two gates is part of the efforts to develop the road network in the emirate, keeping pace with urban expansion and growing traffic movement. The Center continues to monitor the impact of the new gates through periodic reviews to measure their results and analyze usage patterns, which ensures the effective implementation of the system in accordance with approved traffic requirements.
