Recommendations of the Arabic Language and Applied Sciences Conference in Medina

Islamic University Proceedings of the International Conference "Arabic and Applied sciences Empowerment and integration"with several important recommendations, the most prominent of which is adopting digital linguistic transformation policies within national strategies; To enhance the presence of the Arabic language in the digital space, and to emphasize the adoption of the Arabic language in teaching basic courses, while setting mandatory percentages for Arabic content in academic courses.
The Islamic Jawaa organized the conference in strategic partnership with the King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language, and its activities continued for two days, during the period from 16 to 17 Dhul-Qi’dah, at the King Salman International Conference Center In Medina.
An elite group of scholars and specialists participated in the conference, and a group of professors, researchers and interested people from inside and outside the Kingdom.
Specialized research sessions
The conference witnessed a number of dialogue sessions and specialized research sessions that discussed the reality of the Arabic language in applied sciences, and its presence in the fields of scientific research and digital content, in addition to reviewing experiences and initiatives related to the Arabization of science, and the use of modern technologies and artificial intelligence in Arabic language service.
The conference also included a scientific symposium entitled "The National Policy for the Arabic Language in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: Vision, starting points, and prospects for impact"In addition to two training courses that dealt with linguistic models and the mechanism of their construction, and statistical methods for extracting lexical units. In support of cognitive and applied skills, in addition to an accompanying exhibition.
Adopting digital linguistic transformation policies
The conference came out with a number of recommendations, which were: adopting digital linguistic transformation policies within national strategies; To enhance the presence of the Arabic language in the digital space, and to emphasize the adoption of the Arabic language in teaching basic courses, while setting mandatory percentages for Arabic content in scientific courses.
And establishing funding funds to support projects for automatic processing of the Arabic language and developing artificial intelligence models.
And strengthening partnerships between universities, the King Salman International Academy for the Arabic Language, and the private sector to transform research into practical applications.
And supporting digital cultural industries and Arabizing educational and entertainment products. The recommendations also included enhancing the production of digital Arabic content.
Activating the use of classical Arabic in digital media, training content makers on linguistic skills, building open source linguistic blogs that include classical and contemporary texts and dialects, and improving automated processing tools in coordination with specialists.
Launching a unified Arab platform to produce open and reliable Arabic data and interactive digital dictionaries concerned with the Arabization of science and terminology, and supporting open initiatives to enrich digital content. Arabic language, and providing a cloud computing infrastructure to support researchers.
Investing in artificial intelligence techniques
The conference stressed the importance of investing in artificial intelligence techniques in analyzing specialized texts, with accurate documentation of sources, enhancing integration between entities to link smart applications with versions in Arabic, developing study plans by including courses in artificial intelligence and language processing, adopting learning environments that combine technology and human supervision, training those teaching in using artificial intelligence tools, and launching research paths for graduate students in the fields of digitization. Linguistics, and the establishment of dual academic programs that combine Arabic language sciences and applied sciences.
The recommendations also stressed supporting inter-research between the Arabic language and applied sciences, developing technical tools for rhetorical and stylistic analysis, adhering to charters of ethics for the use of artificial intelligence, linking Arabization and translation efforts to academic promotions, requiring the publication of a research paper in Arabic in applied disciplines within the promotion criteria, and urging researchers to translate their research and publish it digitally in Arabic.
