"Abu Dhabi Chess" Champions are crowned "Classic for amateurs"

Abu Dhabi, May 5 / WAM / Yesterday, the Abu Dhabi Chess and Mind Games Club concluded the Abu Dhabi Classic Championship competitions in the amateur category in its 38th edition, over the course of 4 days, with the participation of 100 players, male and female, representing UAE clubs, and 17 nationalities residing in the country.

The competitions resulted in Filipino Bartola Sherin winning first place, his compatriot Phillips Winnie winning second place, and Indian Bashwant Sarvanan coming in third, while Omar Al Hashemi won the commemorative medal for the best participant among people of determination.

Player Abdul Rahman Sami Al Ali and Al-Reem Al-Hammadi achieved the best result for male and female players in the tournament, and Rishan Jacob and Andrea Bacharia achieved the best result for male and female players in the 14-year-old category, while Hamed Zayed and Maria Khamis Al-Balushi topped the best result for male and female players in the 10-year-old category.

The winners were crowned by Saeed Ahmed Al Khouri, Executive Director of the club, and he praised the strong levels of this category, the importance of the event with the support of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and the participation of the Emirati arbitration staff in managing the competitions to hone their expertise, in preparation for hosting the World Chess Olympiad – Abu Dhabi 2028.
