After a ruling to cancel them… US customs duties will be refunded starting May 12

US Customs and Border Protection said it expects to begin refunding payments for the president’s tariffs Donald Trump, which the Supreme Court ruled invalid, as of May 12. The start date of payments via the Automated Clearing House (ACH) system was revealed through a message sent to shipping companies, announcing the availability of status reports that enable claimants to follow the status of refund requests. In a decision issued by Court of International Trade Last week, the agency was expected to begin refunds around May 11, and no reason was given for the date change. The amount of money that the Customs Agency intends to refund to companies amounts to 166 billion $, which are the proceeds of the fees imposed by Trump under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. The Supreme Court ruled that Trump exceeded his authority in using the 1977 sanctions law to impose tariffs.
