Sheikha Al-Nakhi, the cultural personality of the Sharjah Award for Gulf Women’s Creativity

Sharjah, 5 May / WAM / The Cultural Office of the Sharjah Family and Community Council announced the selection of Emirati writer Sheikha Mubarak Al Nakhi as an honored cultural figure within the Sharjah Award for Gulf Women’s Creativity in its eighth session, as part of the preparations for organizing the award ceremony.
Salha Obaid Ghabish, the cultural advisor in the office, confirmed that the selection of Sheikha Mubarak Al-Nakhi came in recognition of her literary career full of giving and excellence, and her role in supporting the cultural movement and enhancing the presence of women in the fields of literature and culture, in addition to her interaction with societal issues, explaining that she will be honored during the award ceremony that will be held next June 23.
Sheikha Mubarak Al Nakhi is considered one of the pioneers of short stories in the UAE. She began her career by publishing the story “The Departure” in the 1970s, before continuing her literary production through a group of short story publications, including “The Departure,” “The Winds of the North,” and “Playing the Strings of Joy.” She also contributed to cultural and media work through her membership in the editorial board of the “Sawt al-Wa’a” magazine, and her editorship of “Al-Zuhur” magazine, the first children’s magazine in the country, in addition to her presidency of the women’s literary magazine “Sails.”
