Dubai International Marine Sports Club lights its 38th candle and continues to consolidate its global standing

The Dubai International Marine Sports Club is celebrating the 38th anniversary of its founding, continuing its path full of achievements that have established its position as one of the most prominent sports edifices specialized in marine sports at the local, regional and international levels.
Since its founding on May 5, 1988, as a translation of the visions of the wise leadership, the club has played a pivotal role in the development of marine sports, as its inception was an extension of Dubai’s early interest in marine racing since the 1980s, after which it began developing regulatory frameworks and laws that contributed to the spread of these sports and strengthening their societal presence.
The club’s journey witnessed notable milestones, most notably its obtaining membership in the International Union of Marine Racing (UIM) in 1990 as the first Arab and African club, and the launch of the Al-Gaffal Race in 1991, which is considered one of the most important heritage races in the region. In 1992, it organized the World Powerboat Championship “Class One” for the first time in the Middle East and Asia, and established its headquarters in Mina El Seyahi in 1993.
In terms of developing cadres, the club established the Modern Sailing School in 1999, and launched the international “Dubai Sea” team in 2008, before continuing to strengthen its institutional presence by obtaining international certificates in quality, environment and safety in 2015.
In recent years, the club has organized hundreds of races and events, and contributed to reviving maritime heritage and attracting participants of various nationalities, while the “Victory” team continued its brilliance by achieving global achievements, including winning a double of the Formula 1 and X-CAT world championships last year.
For his part, Mohammed Abdullah Hareb, Executive Director of the club, confirmed that the club continues to strengthen its global position by hosting major tournaments and developing national competencies, indicating its commitment to continuing the path of success with the support of the wise leadership, and looking forward to a brighter future for marine sports.
