Make in the UAE 2026/ A partnership between the Emirates Development Bank and the Mohammed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence

Abu Dhabi, 5 May / WAM / The Emirates Development Bank announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Mohammed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence, with the aim of supporting the process of developing competencies in the field of artificial intelligence and enhancing cooperation between the two sides within the framework of applied research.

The memorandum was announced during the “Make in the UAE” 2026 event, in a strategic step that contributes to strengthening the UAE’s position as a global center for artificial intelligence technologies and future sectors.

The partnership aims to contribute to efforts to build a sustainable system for innovation and practical applications in key economic sectors, by combining the extensive financial expertise of the Emirates Development Bank and the world-class capabilities of Mohammed bin Zayed University in the fields of education and artificial intelligence research.

Under the memorandum, the two sides will cooperate according to three main axes, including executive education and professional development, vocational training and job interaction, and artificial intelligence research. It will provide the bank’s leaders and cadres the opportunity to participate in programs specialized in artificial intelligence at the university, which will provide them with the necessary skills to integrate advanced technologies into the financial and industrial systems.

In this regard, His Excellency Ahmed Mohammed Al Naqbi, CEO of the Emirates Development Bank, said: “This partnership reflects our ambition to consolidate the Emirates Development Bank’s position as a leader in institutions that employ artificial intelligence technologies in the UAE. Our role goes beyond the limits of financing, and we aim to become a role model in integrating the best artificial intelligence technologies into the bank’s business, as well as providing guidance to our customers, partners, and the business system in general to support them in the transformation process for applying artificial intelligence technologies, which will soon become a major competitive factor.” In many sectors, including the manufacturing sector, the Emirates Development Bank is committed to accelerating the pace of its adoption of these technologies to support the next phase of industrial growth in the UAE.”

The partnership provides students and graduates of the Mohammed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence with direct practical experiences through vocational training and job interaction programs at the bank, ensuring the integration of emerging talents into vital economic institutions in the country, and linking academic knowledge with practical applications.

For his part, Eric Zeng, University President and Professor at Mohammed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence, said: “The partnership between the Emirates Development Bank and Mohammed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence brings together practical experience, talent and the ability to expand, which contributes to employing artificial intelligence in the most important aspects within the financial sector. We are committed to providing the necessary support to the bank’s teams to build the skills necessary to apply artificial intelligence in its various operations, in addition to building a strong base of competencies that will lead the next phase of growth in the UAE.”

The partnership is in line with the UAE’s national strategy for industry, including the “300 Billion Project” initiative, and aims to enhance innovation and develop the capabilities necessary to achieve long-term competitiveness, and embodies a joint vision that seeks to employ technological progress to achieve tangible economic results.

It also contributes to enhancing the strategic role of the Emirates Development Bank in building a knowledge-based economy, in which competencies, technology and capital are integrated to support sustainable development and consolidate the country’s position as a global center for innovation.
