Commander of the Naval Forces: The unification of our armed forces constituted a turning point in our country’s journey
Abu Dhabi, May 5, 2017 – The Commander of the Naval Forces said that on this glorious day, the fiftieth anniversary of the unification of our armed forces, we recall the historic decision taken by the founding leaders on May 6, 1976, which constituted a pivotal turning point in the march of our nation, and laid the foundations for a federal military force that has today become a role model for professionalism and efficiency at the region level and was the fruit of the strategic vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan – may God have mercy on him – And his brothers, the rulers of the Emirates, may God have mercy on them.
He added in his speech on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the unification of the armed forces: “As we in the naval forces celebrate this occasion with pride, we recall the qualitative developments achieved in all areas of naval warfare, until our naval forces have become a leading force capable of defending the state’s sovereignty and borders and securing shipping lines, supported by modern systems and qualified national cadres in accordance with the highest international standards.”
He stressed that what our armed forces have achieved would not have been achieved without the direct supervision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan – President of the State and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, may God protect him – and to him we renew our loyalty and pledge to remain loyal to our responsibilities, a watchful eye that does not sleep to protect our state and our national capabilities, moving resolutely towards the future, inspired by the approach of the founders and the values of the Union.
