"Dubai Electricity" Considers strengthening cooperation in renewable energy and innovation with Belarus

Dubai, 6 May / WAM / His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, during his meeting with His Excellency Aliaksiy Galdebin, Consul General of the Republic of Belarus in Dubai, discussed ways of cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, innovation and sustainable development, investment opportunities, joint projects and the exchange of experiences, which contributes to strengthening economic relations between the UAE and the Republic of Belarus.

The meeting affirmed the Authority’s keenness to enhance cooperation with international partners and diplomatic missions, thus consolidating Dubai’s position as a leading global center in clean energy and sustainable development.

The meeting was attended by Eng. Walid bin Salman, Executive Vice President of the Business Development and Excellence Sector, and Eng. Marwan bin Haider, Executive Vice President of the Innovation and Future Sector.

His Excellency Al Tayer reviewed the most prominent projects and initiatives of the Authority, noting that the Authority’s integrated strategy aims to diversify the energy mix, especially through clean and renewable energy projects, stressing that these efforts are consistent with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Carbon Neutrality Strategy 2050 for the Emirate of Dubai, which aim to provide 100% of the energy production capacity from clean sources by the year 2050.

During the meeting, His Excellency touched on the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest solar energy complex in one location in the world, with a production capacity of 3,860 megawatts.

He pointed out that clean energy currently constitutes more than 21.5% of the Authority’s total production capacity, and it is expected to rise to 36% by 2030, exceeding the original target of 25%, which will contribute to reducing more than 8.5 million tons of carbon emissions annually.

His Excellency Al Tayer pointed to the Authority’s leading global position, which ranked first globally in 13 key performance indicators and two regional indicators in the field of service institutions, across the sectors of production, transportation, distribution, and customer service.

For his part, His Excellency Aliaksi Galdebin praised DEWA’s achievements in the field of renewable energy and its role as a global model for innovation-based service institutions, pointing to a number of Belarusian companies operating in the UAE, whose expertise and technical solutions can contribute to achieving qualitative integration that supports the Authority’s current and future programs and projects.
