"Sharjah Antiquities" She will showcase her experience in risk management and business continuity at a conference in Rabat

Rabat, 6 May / WAM / During its participation in the International Conference on Heritage Management in the Islamic World, organized by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, the Sharjah Antiquities Authority reviewed its experience in managing risks and enhancing business continuity as part of its efforts to enhance the protection of cultural heritage and exchange experiences with institutions and organizations concerned with cultural heritage management.

During its participation, the Authority presented a presentation on its risk management and business continuity system and the plans and procedures it includes that aim to protect cultural heritage sites, historical areas and archaeological assets through simulation-based planning, business impact analysis and risk assessment, which contributes to anticipating challenges and enhancing institutional readiness in various circumstances.

Dr. Saeed Abdullah bin Yarouf Al Naqbi, Director of the Sharjah Antiquities Authority, confirmed that the Authority’s participation in this conference reflects its keenness to highlight Sharjah’s experience in protecting cultural heritage and exchanging experiences with international and regional institutions, noting that the Authority has developed an integrated system for risk management and business continuity that contributed to enhancing readiness and speed of response during the weather situation that the emirate recently witnessed.

He said that the Authority works according to an institutional approach based on proactiveness and advance planning by developing integrated operational plans that contribute to the protection of cultural heritage sites and historical areas and enhance business sustainability and continuity of vital operations in various circumstances and emergencies.

The participation covered the authority’s experience in implementing the business continuity management system in cooperation with the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority and the Sharjah Police General Command, in a step that reflects the integration of institutional efforts at the emirate level and enhances the authority’s readiness to deal with various crises and emergencies.

The Authority reviewed a package of operational plans that cover various levels of risk, including protecting archaeological assets, securing cultural heritage sites, activating field response teams, in addition to implementing business continuity and disaster recovery plans, which contribute to reducing downtime and accelerating the recovery of activities within the targeted time frames.
