Opening of the Gulf Traffic Week exhibition at Yas Mall

ABU DHABI, 6 MAY / WAM / Yesterday, Abu Dhabi Police and the Integrated Transport Center “Abu Dhabi Transport” opened the Gulf Traffic Week exhibition under the slogan “Cross Safely” in cooperation with the Federal Traffic Council at the Ministry of Interior and the police leadership at Yas Mall, and it will continue until tomorrow as part of its awareness activities aimed at enhancing traffic safety and spreading the culture of compliance with traffic laws.
Brigadier General Mahmoud Yousef Al Balushi stressed that road safety is a shared responsibility, and that raising the level of traffic awareness constitutes the first line of defense to reduce accidents, stressing that Abu Dhabi Police is moving at an accelerated pace towards consolidating the “smart road security” system by employing the latest technologies and innovative solutions, in a way that enhances the protection of lives and ensures a safer and more sustainable traffic environment for all road users.
He explained that the exhibition comes within the framework of Abu Dhabi Police’s keenness to strengthen community partnership and deliver awareness messages in innovative ways targeting various segments of society, thus contributing to consolidating positive traffic behaviors and reducing wrong practices.
During the exhibition, police leaders displayed the latest technologies and innovative projects that enhance traffic awareness and encourage safe crossing for road users, in addition to presenting interactive initiatives that contribute to consolidating traffic safety concepts in modern and attractive ways.
The Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police provides the Traffic Points Program services through a field platform as part of its ongoing efforts to facilitate public access to traffic services and enhance the quality of life in the community.
She explained that the platform provides a driving license retrieval service for drivers whose total traffic points have reached the cumulative limit (24 points), through registration and payment of fees (2,400 dirhams) and attending a qualification course for traffic law violators, in addition to providing a service to reduce traffic points by (8 points) for drivers whose points range between (8 and 23 points), after completing registration procedures, paying fees (800 dirhams) and attending the qualifying course, after which the points are deducted from the traffic record.
