"Basketball Federation" The Special Olympics signs a memorandum of understanding to support the participation of people of determination
Abu Dhabi, June 10, 2018 – The UAE Basketball Federation signed a memorandum of understanding with the UAE Special Olympics Foundation extending until 2028, with the aim of developing the sport of basketball for people of determination and enhancing opportunities for their sports and community participation.
The memorandum was signed by Salem Al Mutawa, Secretary General of the UAE Basketball Federation, and Eng. Sharif Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the UAE Special Olympics Foundation, within the framework of enhancing joint cooperation to support athletes of determination and enable them to practice sports in an integrated environment.
The memorandum aims to exchange experiences, provide technical support, establish specialized training centers, organize tournaments and sporting events, in addition to qualifying technical and administrative cadres, in a way that contributes to building national teams capable of competing and promoting a culture of community integration.
Al-Mutawa stressed that this partnership embodies the Federation’s commitment to supporting people of determination and providing opportunities that enable them to develop their sporting abilities, achieve achievements, and represent the UAE in an honorable manner in sporting events.
