Sharjah Electricity completes the lighting of Al Dhaid Square at a cost of 11.5 million dirhams
Sharjah, May 7 / WAM / The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority is implementing the second phase of the Al Dhaid Camel Racing Field lighting project. The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of May 2026 and includes the installation of 346 12-meter-long poles, the extension of 17 km of cables, and the installation of 676 208 W energy-saving floodlights at a cost of about 3 million dirhams, bringing the total number of lighting poles for the project in its first and second phases to 662 poles. Lighting, at a total cost for the two phases of 11.5 million dirhams. The Authority is also implementing a lighting project for Al-Ghawanim – Al-Thaqiba District by installing 78 poles, 8 meters high.
Engineer Khalifa Mohammed Al Tunaiji, Director of the Central Region Department at the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, explained that the lighting project for Al Dhaid Camel Racing Field was implemented according to the best technical specifications, noting that the first phase of the project, which was completed during February 2025, included the installation of 316 poles with a height of 12 meters, the installation of 4 transformers with a capacity of 200 KVA and a transformer with a capacity of 500 KVA, and extending cables with a total length of 23,854 km. The total cost of the project exceeded 8.5 million dirhams, as aluminum cables were extended to a length of 8,750 metres, copper cables were extended to a length of 14,321 metres, 718 120-watt LED floodlights were installed, and 6 100 A lighting feeder boxes were installed.
He added that the Al-Ghawanim-Al-Thaqiba District lighting project included the installation of 87 energy-saving 80-W floodlights and the extension of 3,900 meters of cables.
Engineer Al-Taniji confirmed that the authority is working to provide the best services for development and tourism projects and implement lighting projects in various regions to provide security, safety, and a cultural and aesthetic appearance.
