"Dubai Islamic" 6 million dirhams are allocated for fees for students with disabilities at the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services

Sharjah, 10 May / WAM / Dubai Islamic Bank has provided 6 million dirhams of the bank’s zakat funds for the year 2025, in support of the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, with the aim of contributing to the payment of tuition fees for students with disabilities who are eligible for zakat according to Sharia banks.
This support comes within the framework of the joint cooperation agreement between the two sides, and the bank’s commitment to disburse zakat funds in accordance with the approved Sharia controls, reflecting the continuation of the humanitarian and community partnership between Dubai Islamic and Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, and supporting initiatives aimed at providing education, rehabilitation and care for the most needy groups.
The support contributes to strengthening the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services Zakat campaign for the year 2026 under the slogan “Your Zakat Makes an Impact,” which aims to provide tuition fees and educational and rehabilitative services for students with disabilities who are eligible for Zakat funds, in a way that supports the continuity of their educational journey and enhances the developmental and humanitarian impact of Zakat.
The total support approved by the Zakat Funds Disbursement Committee for the academic year 2025-2026 amounted to about 11 million and 508 thousand and 300 dirhams, while the number of students eligible for Zakat funds reaches 509 students at the city level.
Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services confirmed that tuition fees do not cover the full cost of specialized educational and rehabilitation services provided to students, which requires continuous work to provide sustainable sources of income that ensure the continuity of development and quality of services.
Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services is one of the leading institutions in the region in the field of education and rehabilitation of people with disabilities, as it provides an integrated system of educational, pedagogical and rehabilitative services, including early childhood programs, specialized school education and vocational rehabilitation, in addition to supportive therapy and family guidance services. The city also works to adopt the latest educational methods that support integration, provide supportive technologies, and prepare specialized cadres to deal with various disabilities, in a way that enhances students’ opportunities for academic achievement, independence and community integration.
Her Excellency Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, President of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, said that Dubai Islamic’s contribution represents an honorable national model for effective partnership between the banking sector and humanitarian institutions.
She added: We highly value the continued support provided by Dubai Islamic to the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, which reflects a true belief in the importance of investing in people, especially in educating and empowering people with disabilities.
She stressed that this support contributes to providing quality education and advanced rehabilitative services that enhance students’ abilities, independence, and integration into society, noting that the partners’ support allows the city to continue developing its educational and rehabilitative programs, expand the scope of its services, and reduce the burdens on families.
She praised the role played by national institutions in consolidating social responsibility and contributing to building a more comprehensive and just society, stressing that strategic partnerships represent an essential pillar for the sustainability of humanitarian and educational work.
