Sharjah celebrates three innovators at the Calligraphy Forum next October

Sharjah, May 11 / WAM / Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the Sharjah Calligraphy Forum in its twelfth session, which will be held next October under the slogan “Mizan”, will honor 3 innovators in the art of Arabic calligraphy: the calligrapher Ali Al Hammadi from the Emirates, the academic in the arts of Arabic calligraphy Belaid Hamidi from Morocco, and the calligrapher and visual artist Khalifa Al Shimi from Egypt.

During the first day of the forum, personal exhibitions for the three honorees will be opened in the Calligraphy Square, displaying selections from their experiences and calligraphy works that reflect their artistic paths and contributions to the development of the arts of Arabic crafts. They will continue to receive the public throughout the duration of the forum, allowing visitors and those interested to see the diversity of creative experiences and aesthetic visions presented by the honored calligraphers.

Muhammad Ibrahim Al Qaseer, Director of the Cultural Affairs Department at the Sharjah Department of Culture and Director of the Forum, said that the Sharjah Calligraphy Forum, under the patronage and support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, continues to consolidate its presence as a global cultural and artistic platform that celebrates the aesthetics of the Arabic letter and opens horizons of dialogue between different creative experiences, indicating that what the Forum has achieved over its previous sessions reflects its distinguished position on the map of Arabic calligraphy arts in the world.

Al-Quseir explained that the new session witnesses specific programs and exhibitions that evoke the renewed relationship between crafts and visual arts, in addition to the personal exhibitions of the honorees that provide the public with the opportunity to learn about various artistic experiences that reflect the richness of Arabic calligraphy and its continuous ability to renew and be open to contemporary expressions.
