Trump announces talks with Cuba

US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that talks would be held with Cuba, on which his country has imposed an oil blockade for months after the arrest of its ally, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
Trump described the island, which is under communist rule, as a “failed state,” and wrote in a post on his platform, “Truth Social,” that “Cuba is asking for help, and we will talk!!!” He did not provide any details.
Earlier this month, Trump said that the United States would “take control” of the Caribbean island off the coast of Florida “almost immediately.”
On May 1, he announced the tightening of sanctions on Cuba, considering that it “poses an exceptional threat” to American national security.
The new sanctions targeted foreign banks dealing with the Havana government, individuals and entities working in several sectors on the island, including energy and mining, in addition to those accused of committing “serious human rights violations.”
