"Sharjah culture" Reveals the program of the Dibba Al-Hisn Dual Theater Festival for its 9th session

Sharjah, May 18 / WAM / The Sharjah Department of Culture revealed the program of the ninth session of the Dibba Al-Hisn Duo Theater Festival, which is organized by the Department’s Theater Department during the period from May 21 to 25 of this year at the Cultural Center in Dibba Al-Hisn, with the participation of Arab theatrical performances, training workshops, and a specialized intellectual forum.
This came during a press conference held by the department in the presence of His Excellency Abdullah Al Owais, Head of the Department of Culture, and His Excellency Ahmed Burahima, Director of the Department of Theater Administration, during which Aisha Al-Kadeed, Assistant General Coordinator of the Festival, and Maryam Al-Muaini, Head of the Media Committee, spoke.
The department confirmed that the festival is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and comes as a continuation of the emirate’s efforts to support the Arab theatrical movement and enhance the presence of specialized qualitative theatre.
Aisha Al-Kadid said that the ninth session of the festival witnesses a diversity of participating Arab theatrical experiences, which reflects the status of the event as a platform for artistic dialogue and the exchange of theatrical experiences, noting the keenness of the theater management and the organizing committee to present an integrated program that combines performances, workshops, and an intellectual forum.
For her part, Maryam Al-Muaini said that the Dibba Al-Hisn Duo Theater Festival continues to consolidate its presence in the Arab theatrical scene, in line with the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah in support of the cultural and theatrical movement, stressing the keenness of the theater management of the Department of Culture to enrich the theatrical arena with activities and events that provide artists, critics and the public with opportunities to meet, dialogue and exchange experiences.
She added that the festival is witnessing the organization of the 21st session of the Sharjah Arab Theater Forum under the title “Theater and Education,” with the participation of an elite group of Arab theater researchers and practitioners, in addition to the organization of three specialized training workshops in composition, diagnosis, and theatrical directing, with the aim of developing the skills of those interested in theater and refining their artistic experiences.
The festival will witness the participation of five theatrical performances from the Emirates, Egypt, Tunisia, Syria and Morocco. The program of performances will open with the Emirati play “Jasmine Toes” written by Ahmed Al Majed and directed by Elham Mohamed, and the Egyptian play “Dahab” written and directed by Amr Kabil will be presented the next day.
The program includes the Tunisian show “Two Voices Under the Skin,” written by Nour El-Din Hammami and directed by Soraya Bouganmi, and the Syrian show “Hiwar,” written and directed by Mamoun Al-Khatib, while the session concludes with the Moroccan play “Waiting” written by Mohamed Al-Alami and directed by Mohamed Reda Al-Tasouli.
The performances are followed by critical seminars in which a group of Arab playwrights and critics participate, with the aim of discussing artistic experiences and highlighting the aesthetic and intellectual aspects of the participating works.
The program also includes three specialized training workshops, including theatrical composition, diagnosis and directing, supervised by Arab playwrights from Morocco, the Emirates and Tunisia, within the framework of supporting and qualifying young theatrical cadres.
The festival will also host the twenty-first session of the Sharjah Arab Theater Forum on May 22 and 23 under the title “Theatre and Education,” to discuss issues of educational theater and its relationship to education and cultural upbringing in the Arab world.
