The Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Association for Future Generations organized the National Family Forum, under the slogan “Family of a Nation,” at the headquarters of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan Foundations in Al Ain, coinciding with International Family Day, where the keys to a happy family were implemented within the association’s community program.

The forum, which was attended by Sheikha Wafa bint Humaid Al Mualla, was held with the support of the Community Contributions Authority – Ma’an, and the Department of Municipalities and Transport – Al Ain City Municipality, to celebrate the Year of the Family, and to embody a national vision that affirms the status of the family as the primary incubator of values, and the basic pillar in building the human being, promoting community cohesion, and preserving the national identity and authentic Emirati heritage.

Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan inspected the various corners of the forum, which reflected the diversity of societal roles and the integration of institutional partnerships in line with the “Together” Authority’s commitment to linking government agencies, the private sector and civil society institutions to support social priorities in Abu Dhabi. The corner of the Shamma Mohammed Arts Academy included artistic and creative participation in cooperation with a number of cultural and community bodies, through plastic performances, Arabic calligraphy, music and various arts.

The Security Sense Corner also reviewed the efforts of a number of security and awareness agencies, including the Police Rehabilitation Centre, the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority, the Traffic and Patrols Department, the Anti-Narcotics Department, the K9 Unit, and the Al Murabbaa Police Museum, which enhances family awareness of the importance of security culture in daily life.

The Future Generations Library Corner witnessed a group of reading programmes, competitions and interactive workshops, while the Qayd Al Ain Corner – Zayed’s Heritage and Crafts Legacy, presented a vivid picture of the Emirati identity through the participation of productive families, craftswomen and senior citizens, in addition to artistic and folklore performances presented by bands from the resident communities, and the Emirati Al Ayyala Band.

The forum included a special section for environmental education, which presented workshops on hydroponics and recycling, with the participation of a number of stakeholders concerned with sustainability, in addition to a family health section that provided consultations and awareness services in cooperation with Burjeel Hospital – Al Ain, Kind Hospital, Al Ain Pharmacy and specialized medical centers.

The forum also provided a supportive space for youth and children through the Youth Builder Corner and the Small Investor Corner, “Tajer’s Step to Entrepreneurship,” in addition to broad participation of volunteer teams, community institutions, universities, humanitarian agencies, media professionals, and influencers.

The forum’s activities extended over two days, with the attendance of more than a thousand participants, visitors, organizers and sponsors daily, in a national and societal scene that reflected the status of the Emirati family and its role in consolidating the values of stability, belonging and sustainable development.

Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, in her statement on this occasion, affirmed that the Emirati family was and remains the foundation of society’s strength and its moral and human memory, noting that celebrating the Year of the Family is a celebration of the home that creates values, and of the mother and father who instill in children the meaning of belonging and responsibility.

She said that the Watan Family Forum is not only a celebratory event, but it is a community message that confirms that building nations begins with building a person within his family, and that protecting identity, promoting cohesion, and consolidating values is a shared responsibility between the family, institutions, and society as a whole.
