المملكة: The Mashaer Train launches… 9 stations and 2,000 trips aiming to transport two million pilgrims

The first trips of the Holy Mashaer train for the Hajj season 1447 AH were launched this morning, to serve the pilgrims and facilitate their movement between Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah, through an integrated transportation system to reduce traffic congestion.

She explained Saudi Railways The train has a superior capacity of up to 3,000 passengers per train, and an operating capacity of 72,000 passengers per hour, which makes it among the densest transport systems in the world.

It indicated that the operational plan for the current season aims to transport more than two million passengers, by operating 2,000 scheduled trips between 9 stations strategically distributed along the train’s route.

She pointed out that The pivotal role of the train in enhancing the flow of movement in direct coordination with security and service authorities, contributing to eliminating more than 50,000 bus trips to raise the efficiency of transportation.

The Saudi railways «SAR has confirmed the readiness of the fleet of 17 trains, after completing comprehensive maintenance work and raising the efficiency of signaling and communications systems and control centers to ensure a reliable transportation experience.

It is noteworthy that the Holy Mashaer train officially entered service in 2010 AD, while the responsibility for its operation and maintenance was transferred to the Saudi Railways in accordance with a Cabinet decision issued in 2019 AD.
