Addis Ababa, October 24 / WAM / The “New Horizons for External Expansion” initiative organized by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce has reached 27 global markets, especially in Asia and Africa, with the aim of enhancing the expansion of companies operating in the emirate towards more promising markets.
His Excellency Mohammed Ali Rashid Lootah, Director General of Dubai Chambers, stressed the great success achieved by the initiative, which witnessed the holding of more than 6,000 meetings between Dubai companies and international companies until the end of the year 2025. He said that these meetings culminated in expansion opportunities in terms of export and investment for companies in the Emirate of Dubai, and also contributed to strengthening trade and investment relations between Dubai Chambers, chambers of commerce and the competent authorities in all the markets that were targeted.
Lootah added, in statements to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, during the trade mission organized by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce to Ethiopia, that the Chamber is continuing to develop the “New Horizons” initiative, multiply its results, and enhance its goals of opening a direct channel of communication for its members with the world, and helping them expand into new markets.
He pointed out that the launch of the initiative in 2023 came within the framework of contributing to enhancing Dubai’s economic competitiveness, and in line with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda “D33” and the “Dubai Global” initiative, which seeks to help Dubai companies explore new business opportunities across 30 priority markets.
He said that Dubai provides a global platform for all companies to expand internationally, thanks to its business-friendly ecosystem and access to rapidly growing markets in the Middle East, Africa and Asia, making it the global gateway for companies looking to expand beyond the borders of their countries.
Regarding the selection of Ethiopia among the chamber’s mission stations, he explained that bilateral trade between Dubai and Ethiopia jumped from $454 million in 2013 to reach about $6.1 billion in 2025, pointing out that this rise reflects the dynamism of the Ethiopian market and its rapid growth.
He considered that the international confidence enjoyed by all companies based in Dubai constituted a prominent factor in the success of the “New Horizons for Foreign Expansion” initiative, as these companies enjoy high credibility and professionalism, in addition to their international competitiveness, which paves the way for them to enter global markets.
He explained that Dubai companies contributed to finding solutions to many challenges in emerging countries, which made many commercial capitals show great welcome in dealing with Dubai.
He stressed Dubai Chambers’ commitment to supporting the aspirations of the local business community to expand into global markets of strategic importance, noting that these trade missions contribute to opening new channels and building sustainable economic bridges with world markets.
