An aide to Rubio has been promoted to a senior national security position in the White House

An informed source said on Tuesday that US State Department Advisor Michael Needham, a longtime aide to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, has been promoted to the position of Deputy National Security Advisor.

In this position, Needham will work alongside Rubio, who serves as acting National Security Advisor to President Donald Trump in addition to his work as Secretary of State.

Needham was Rubio’s chief of staff in the US Senate, and before that he served as CEO of Heritage Action for America, an organization dedicated to promoting conservative values ​​and policies.

At the State Department, he was most recently involved when Rubio hosted the first direct talks between Israel and Lebanon in decades.
