DUBAI, 7 JUNE / WAM / A delegation from the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, “Masdar”, reviewed the most prominent global performance indicators of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, and the most important features of the “Al Sheraa” building, the authority’s new headquarters in the Al Jaddaf area, which is considered an architectural masterpiece, and the tallest, largest and smartest energy-positive government building in the world.
This came during a meeting with His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, with the Masdar delegation, which was headed by Mohammed Jameel Al Ramahi, CEO of the company.
The building embodies an innovative concept of sustainable buildings, based on integrating smart solutions within an integrated cognitive system that thinks, senses and interacts, making it the smartest among government buildings in the world, by employing Internet of Things technologies, big data analysis, and artificial intelligence.
The delegation was also briefed on Al Sheraa’s cognitive system that connects all operational systems in complete synchronization, supported by more than 110,000 smart sensors to monitor environmental and operational data moment by moment, more than 1,500 wireless access points, and more than 3,200 network devices, generating more than 1.9 million automated control commands daily, which enhances operational integration and increases performance efficiency.
Al Sheraa aims to set a new global standard for energy positive buildings, which produce more clean energy than they consume, and provide a smart and sustainable work environment that puts people at the center of attention. It also embodies DEWA’s firm commitment to supporting the goals of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Carbon Neutrality Strategy 2050 for the Emirate of Dubai, by raising the efficiency of resource use, reducing emissions, and accelerating the transition towards a green economy based on innovation and sustainability.
The building rises 19 floors, in addition to the ground floor and the basement, with a built-up area of more than two million square feet. It was designed to obtain the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) platinum certification and conform to the WELL system standards in the gold category, which is the global standard for enhancing the health and well-being of building occupants.
Al Sheraa provides a leading global model for future buildings that combine artificial intelligence, resource efficiency, sustainability, and quality of life.
