After Kim Jong Un’s invitation, the Chinese leader intends to visit North Korea
Xi Jinping visit next week, according to what Chinese official media reported on Friday.
The channel said "CCTV" Chinese official television: "At the invitation of Kim Jong Un… Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the Republic of People’s Republic, made a state visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea from June 8 to 9"
Beijing is a vital source of support for Pyongyang, which is subject to harsh sanctions that have made it one of the most isolated countries in the world.
Rare Visits
Despite the close relations between the two countries, visits by Chinese presidents to North Korea are rare of their kind.
Xi last visited Pyongyang in 2019, and it was the first visit of its kind by a Chinese leader since Hu Jintao’s visit in 2019. 2005.
Last September, Xi warmly received Kim in Beijing, after inviting him and Russian President Vladimir Putin as guests of honor to attend a military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the victory over Japan in World War II.
The North Korean official news agency confirmed the visit, without providing further details.
