"Hero Dubai Desert Classic golf course" Maintains the International Sustainability Certification for the 4th year in a row

DUBAI, 5 JUNE / WAM / The Hero Dubai Desert Classic golf tournament has maintained the international GEO Certified®️ sustainability certification for the fourth year in a row, an achievement that reflects the tournament’s leadership in adopting sustainable environmental practices and promoting social responsibility in sports.

The certification is considered one of the highest global accreditations granted to sustainable events in professional golf, making the Hero Dubai Desert Classic the first tournament in the Middle East to obtain and maintain this accreditation across four consecutive editions. It is also the first event in the Rolex Series of the DP World Tour to achieve this achievement.

The announcement coincided with World Environment Day, which falls on June 5 of each year, and aims to enhance collective efforts to confront environmental challenges through practical and sustainable solutions.

The GEO Sustainable Golf Foundation awards this certification after an independent evaluation process covering various aspects of organizing the tournament, including event management, community outreach and long-term sustainable impact, as well as monitoring future development opportunities.

Simon Corkill, Executive Director of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, said that obtaining the sustainability certification for the fourth year in a row represents an important achievement that reflects the commitment of all parties involved in organizing the tournament.

He added that sustainability has become an essential part of the planning and decision-making process, stressing the continuation of work on developing initiatives that contribute to reducing environmental impact, enhancing positive social results and leaving a sustainable legacy for the tournament. He praised the support of partners, suppliers and fans in achieving this achievement.
