"It is called Khalidiya" He is crowned champion of the President’s Cup for purebred Arabian horses in Sweden

Stockholm, June 7, 2017 – The horse “Wasmi Al Khalidiya” was crowned champion of the His Highness the President’s Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses at the Sweden station, the second European station on the agenda of the 33rd edition of the racing series.

The competitions were held yesterday on the Gardet grass track in Stockholm, coinciding with the National Day celebrations of the Kingdom of Sweden.

The Swedish round witnessed the participation of 10 of the elite Arabian horses in Sweden and Europe, in the race, which was held over a distance of 1,500 meters on grass, in the “Listed” category, which is designated for purebred Arabian horses aged 4 years and above, confirming its position as one of the most prominent races for Arabian horses in the Scandinavian countries.

The horse “Wasmi Al-Khalidiya”, descended from (Ghazanfar Al-Khalidiya x Shatha Al-Khalidiya), and belonging to the “Poliska AKF” farm, under the supervision of trainer Janosz Kozlowski, and led by jockey Peranders Graberg, succeeded in clinching the title after a distinguished performance in which he confirmed his strong presence in the expensive cup races, especially since he finished runner-up in last year’s edition.

The champion presented a balanced performance throughout the course of the race, before deciding the competition in its final stages, covering the race distance with a time of 1:38.06 minutes, ahead of the horse “Freddie Pie”, champion of the 2023 and 2024 editions, descended from (TM Fred Texas x Via Hipolite), and belonging to the owner and trainer Gerard Zotliff, led by the jockey Lorenzo Pozzolo, while the mare “Fredida Pie”, champion of the edition. 2025, descended from Al Murtajaz x Hania DA, owned by owner and trainer Peter Dekkers, and led by jockey Jeremy Moisan, in third place.

With this achievement, “Wasmi Al-Khalidiya” added his name to the record of champions of the Swedish station, which over the past years witnessed the crowning of a number of the most prominent Arabian horses, including “Mahdaf Athba”, the champion of the year 2020, “Rasmi Al-Khalidiya”, the champion of the 2021 and 2022 editions, “Freddie Pie”, the champion of the 2023 and 2024 editions, and “Farida Bee”, the champion of the 2025 edition.

The Swedish station witnessed a remarkable audience attendance of 30,000 spectators, in addition to wide interaction with the race and the accompanying events, in a distinctive festive atmosphere that coincided with the National Day celebrations of the Kingdom of Sweden, which enhanced the public and media presence of the event and consolidated the status of the precious cup among the most prominent races dedicated to Arabian horses in Europe.

The race was attended and the winners were crowned by Saeed Al Muhairi, representative of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the His Highness the President of the State Cup Series for Purebred Arabian Horses, at the conclusion of competitions characterized by the strength and qualitative participation of elite Arabian horses from Sweden and Europe.

His Excellency Arif Hamad Al Awani, member of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the His Highness the President of the State Cup Series for Purebred Arabian Horses, confirmed that the Sweden station embodied the prestigious status that the precious cup enjoys on European tracks, and the strong participation of the elite of Arabian horses and the increasing public interaction it is witnessing.

He said: “We are proud of the great gains that the expensive Cup races continue to achieve on European tracks, and the distinguished attendance that the Swedish station reflected in the distinguished presence, strong competitions and remarkable public interaction, which confirms the advanced status that the Cup enjoys among owners and breeders of Arabian horses in various countries of the world.”

He added that holding the race on the Gardet grass track in Stockholm in conjunction with the National Day celebrations of the Kingdom of Sweden represents an important milestone in the journey of the precious cup, and reflects the keenness of the Supreme Organizing Committee to consolidate the global presence of the Arabian horse in the most prominent tracks and public events, a translation of the vision of the wise leadership and its continued support for plans to advance Arabian horse racing and enhance its position on the international arena.
