"Sharjah Electricity and Water" Water projects with a length of 70 km are being completed

Sharjah, June 8 / WAM / The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority completed, during the first quarter of 2026, a package of strategic projects to expand, extend and replace water networks in various regions of the Emirate of Sharjah, with a total length exceeding 70 kilometers, in order to meet the increasing demand for water in accordance with the highest technical specifications and international standards.

Engineer Faisal Al Sarkal, Director of the Water Department at the Authority, confirmed that the Authority continues to implement projects for main lines and water distribution networks in new areas, in addition to replacing old networks and replacing them with modern extensions of high efficiency and quality, in order to ensure the sustainability of supplies and improve the level of services provided to the residents of the emirate, in implementation of the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

He explained that the projects that were implemented during the first quarter of this year included completing the water distribution network in the Al Sajaa Industrial Area, with a length of 30.5 km, in addition to the project to complete the water transmission line linking industrial areas 11, 15 and 17, with a length of 2.3 km, at a total cost amounting to about 5 million dirhams.

He pointed out that the works included replacing the old water network in the Nasiriyah area, with a total length of up to 20 kilometers, and replacing it with a new network made of fiberglass reinforced material (GRE), due to its high efficiency and long-term operational durability.

The projects also included extending water lines in the Al-Mawradah 6 area for a length of 22 km, at a cost of 7.5 million dirhams, in addition to completing the water network in the Al-Juraina area, with a length of 5 km, at an estimated cost of 4 million dirhams.

The Authority confirmed its continued implementation of its development plans to enhance the infrastructure of water networks in the Emirate of Sharjah, in a way that keeps pace with urban and population growth, ensures the sustainability of resources and raises the efficiency of the services provided.
