Abu Dhabi hosts various cultural and artistic events in June


Abu Dhabi, June 9 / WAM / This June, Abu Dhabi will witness a diverse program of entertainment, cultural and artistic events that meet the interests of everyone of all ages, and vary between concerts, creative workshops and sports challenges.
Until September 4, Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi will host the “Silk Fold” experience from “Athir Café”, which blends authentic hospitality with the aesthetics of Emirati crafts, along with live performances and community sessions.
On June 12, the Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation will host an exceptional ceremony on the occasion of the centenary of Maya Plisetskaya, one of the most prominent ballerinas of the twentieth century, while the program includes selections from the world’s ballet heritage, with the participation of stars and artists from the most prestigious Russian troupes.
On June 13, the complex will also offer an inspiring experience with the “Ballet Fairy Tales” show, which includes scenes from iconic works such as “The Nutcracker” and “Sleeping Beauty.” The Spartan City Challenge race will start on June 13 at Etihad Arena, while superstar Wael Kfoury will perform at a concert on June 13 at Space 42 Arena in Al Raha Beach.
On June 13 and 14, Complex 421 will host the “Basics of Artist’s Books” workshop under the supervision of artist and designer Arnold Barreto, where participants learn about the stages and techniques of designing and producing artist’s books, from the initial idea until the final integrated work, including the design of folded books, folding and binding methods. The workshop is open to ages 18 and above, and does not require prior experience.
Musician Omar Khairat will return to Abu Dhabi on June 20 for his first concert at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island, while on June 26 the Cultural Foundation will host a concert celebrating the popular musical and poetic heritage under the title “The Cultural Foundation Sessions: An Evening of Emirati Musical Memory with Abdul Rahman Al Junaid.” During the evening, the symbols of Emirati poetry and music that have shaped the popular conscience and highlight the richness of the national cultural heritage and its renewed presence in the contemporary artistic scene will be honored.
On June 28, Complex 421 will host a family interactive experience entitled “Heroes of Light: Mahmoud Darwish and the Art of Arabic Calligraphy,” which combines story-reading sessions and creative activities inspired by the series of children’s books by Mirna Ayyad, while the event celebrates the late Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish through a reading session presented by the writer, followed by a creative workshop in Arabic calligraphy and typography design under the supervision of the artist Karim Al-Atrash.
On June 28, the complex will also host the final session of this season of the “Library: Contemplative Thought Circle” series, entitled “Sound,” which is led by the researcher and audio practice specialist, Safiya Al Balushi.
