“Al-Nasr Basket” renews confidence in coach Hossam El-Wakeel for two seasons

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Nasr Sports Company, Abdul Razzaq Al-Hashemi, revealed the renewal of confidence in the technical staff of the first basketball team, led by Egyptian coach Hossam Al-Wakil, for two additional seasons, as part of the club’s endeavor to maintain technical stability and build on the distinguished results achieved by the team during the ending season, after it reached the final match in all four competitions, and was crowned with the “Emirates Cup” and “Vice President’s Cup” titles.

Al-Hashemi told Emirates Al-Youm: “Technical stability and the completion of the strategy that the club adopted years ago to rebuild the team were the main motivation for renewing confidence in coach Hossam Al-Wakeel, who has been associated with Al-Nasr Basket since 2017, when he took over coaching the youth team, before leading the men’s team to win its first historic title in the President’s Cup in 2019, in a station that paved the way for him officially assuming leadership of the first team.”

He added: “Creating a team capable of competing for championships was one of the basic pillars of the strategy developed by the club’s management, in which it relied on the outputs of the age groups in building the first team. Coach Hossam El-Wakeel was an essential part of this project, the fruits of which began to appear during the recent seasons, through constant attendance in the final matches, and achieving new achievements.”

He continued: “The ending season embodied the success of this strategy, after the basketball team was a party to the finals of the four competitions, and succeeded in winning the Emirates Cup and the Vice President’s Cup titles.”

Al-Hashemi explained that the results of the project were not limited to the first team, saying: “We also succeeded in introducing a number of talents that strongly imposed themselves in the ranks of the first national team, and we look forward to continuing to work according to this strategy to create a championship team capable of achieving ambitions, and adding more titles, especially at the league level.”
