"Islamic affairs" The Salsabil Mosque opens in Sharjah

Sharjah, June 10 / WAM / The Sharjah Islamic Affairs Department opened the “Salsabil” Mosque in the Al Qatina 1 area, as part of its ongoing efforts to develop the religious infrastructure and enhance mosque services in various regions of the emirate, in a way that keeps pace with urban and population growth and provides an integrated faith environment for worshippers.

The opening was witnessed by His Excellency Counselor Dr. Issa Saif Ahmed bin Hanzal, Member of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah and Head of the Islamic Affairs Department, in the presence of a number of officials.

The department confirmed that the project comes within its vision to build the houses of God and provide integrated religious facilities that meet the needs of community members and contribute to strengthening its religious and social mission.

The Salsabil Mosque is distinguished by an Islamic architectural style inspired by Fatimid architecture, combining originality and aesthetics of design, to form a qualitative addition to the religious and urban landmarks in the region. Its capacity is about 400 worshipers, 50 of which are designated for the women’s prayer hall, and it includes integrated service facilities that include bathrooms and parking lots, in addition to a residence for the imam.

The mosque was built with a minaret more than 30 meters high.

The opening ceremony included honoring the Sharjah Charitable House in appreciation of its contribution to supporting the mosque construction project. The head of the department also honored the entities implementing the project, including consultants and contractors, in appreciation of their efforts in completing it according to the approved specifications and the specified time frame.

Dr. Salem Al-Doubi, Director of the Department of Religious Guidance at the Department, gave a speech in which he stressed the importance of mosque architecture and its role in building human beings and enhancing societal cohesion, noting that mosques represent beacons of guidance, knowledge, and values, and contribute to consolidating Islamic identity and enhancing family and community stability.

The Department of Islamic Affairs confirmed that the opening of the mosque comes within an integrated system of projects and initiatives that it is implementing to serve the emirate’s mosques and take care of their affairs, in a way that enhances the mosque’s position in society and consolidates tolerant Islamic values.
