“Out of Coverage”… A new comedy project that brings Bassem Yakhour back to the “Syrian countryside”

At a time when Syrian drama is searching for new projects capable of regaining part of its lost momentum, amid increasing production and economic challenges, the series “Out of Coverage” stands out as one of the works that bet on social comedy and the rural environment. To attract the audience. Interest in the project is increasing with the circulation of information about the nomination of Syrian star Bassem Yakhour to star in it, in a move that may represent a new return for him to the dramatic genre, through which he achieved some of his most prominent public successes.

 

The work is written by Muayyad Al-Nabulsi, directed by Amir Namo, and produced by two companies: “Good Films” by Yamen Set El Benin, and “NMS Art Production” by Abdel Qader Salah Al-Din, in a work that bets on restoring the brilliance of Syrian rural comedy, within a contemporary template that touches on the transformations of society and its increasing relationship with technology.

Bassem Yakhour, the most prominent candidate for the action lead, expressed his initial agreement to join the project, provided that he heads to Damascus at the beginning of next July, to begin filming his scenes. The work relies on situational comedy, derived from the details of daily life, presenting a treatment that combines the traditional rural character with the spirit of the digital age, where technology turns from a tool for communication and openness into a focus for unexpected conflicts and situations, within a light social framework that seeks to touch on people’s issues and concerns in a sarcastic manner, close to reality.

The project gains special importance, in light of the circumstances that Syrian drama has been going through in recent years, which Bassem Yakhour previously described as one of the most difficult stages that the dramatic industry has witnessed. As a result of economic and political challenges, which were directly reflected in the volume and diversity of production. Yakhour stressed that Syrian drama was distinguished, historically, by its ability to present a wide range of social, comedic and historical works, which gave it a strong presence and wide Arab spread.
