Sharjah Economy begins implementing the government economic facilities package to enhance the business environment

Sharjah, June 21 / WAM / The Sharjah Economic Development Department has begun implementing a package of economic facilities and decisions issued by the Executive Council and approved by the Sharjah Government with the aim of supporting economic activities and stimulating investment, including providing a set of financial exemptions and deferrals and supportive measures for the economic sector, which have been implemented effectively since June 16 and will continue for three months in a way that supports the work of companies and institutions and contributes to enhancing business continuity and supporting project owners and entrepreneurs.
The department confirmed that this package reflects the interest and support of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler, Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah, and their keenness to support the national economy and reduce the burdens on the business community, which contributes to enhancing confidence and stimulating new investments, in addition to supporting the continuity of existing projects.
His Excellency Hamad Ali Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Head of the Department of Economic Development, said that directly implementing the incentives represents an important strategic step towards consolidating all capabilities to facilitate doing business and provide flexible services that meet the aspirations of investors and entrepreneurs.
The government economic facilitation package included exempting micro-licenses (accreditation and electronic commerce licenses) from late fines, a 50% discount on micro-licenses upon issuance and renewal, a 50% discount upon issuing industrial licenses for the targeted sectors “food industry and pharmaceutical industries,” a 25% discount on fees for issuing permits for promotional campaigns, and a 25% discount on the department’s fee for issuance and renewal for nurseries.
Al Mahmoud appreciated the decisions of the Executive Council, stressing that they embody the wise vision of our wise leadership and its continued keenness to enhance the emirate’s competitiveness and provide an attractive and sustainable business environment that supports the growth of various economic sectors. He expressed his thanks and appreciation to all government agencies participating in providing these facilities, praising the spirit of integration and cooperation between them, which included the Department of Public Works, the Department of Planning and Survey, the Department of Civil Aviation, the Department of Municipal Affairs, the Sharjah Police General Command, and the Electricity and Water Authority. Sharjah Gas, the Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, the Sharjah International Airport Authority, the Roads and Transport Authority, the Sharjah Private Education Authority, the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the municipalities of the cities of the Emirate of Sharjah, and the Sharjah Civil Defense Authority.
