المملكة: “Water Week” kicks off in Jeddah… and an integrated institutional structure to enhance food and water security
Preparing Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture to review its strategic achievements coinciding with the start of Saudi Water will be held in Jeddah at the end of June, relying on an institutional structure that includes ten specialized agencies to achieve sustainability and the goals of Vision 2030.
The activities of the water event will start in the city of Jeddah during the period from June 28 to July 2, 2026. This gathering constitutes a major station for reviewing the sector’s progress and highlighting the integration of agencies to raise the efficiency of performance.
The Ministry’s institutional structuring documents indicated that the Environment Agency is responsible for leading sustainability. By representing the Kingdom internationally and following up on climate agreements. Its executive departments work on drafting legislation, protecting biological systems, and implementing strategic studies to control environmental performance.
Ensuring the Sustainability of Resources
In the water sector, the competent agency is responsible for ensuring the sustainability of sources by evaluating supply plans and developing underground and surface systems. This path supports efforts to qualify human resources, establish partnerships, and spread awareness to ensure the security of the comprehensive water sector.
To enhance food security, the Agriculture Agency leads plans to develop plant and animal resources. And fisheries, in addition to supporting organic and circular agriculture practices, and its departments are responsible for developing public benefit markets, and activating the extension and agricultural quarantine systems to raise productive competitiveness.
The Agency for Planning and Institutional Excellence directs the performance compass by formulating strategic plans and aligning the Ministry’s objectives with the National Transformation Programme, and the Land and Geospatial Information Agency integrates with it in organizing allocation processes, monitoring uses, and providing space data.
An attractive investment environment
And on the economic level, the Agency for Land Affairs Economic and privatization aims to create an attractive investment environment, manage the privatization of assets and develop revenues. This trend is supported by the Research and Innovation Agency, which focuses on localizing modern technologies and empowering entrepreneurs.
The Shared Services Agency supports all sectors by developing the work environment and managing human and financial resources in accordance with regulatory standards, and the Information Technology and Digital Transformation Agency is responsible for creating advanced systems based on artificial intelligence and graphic analysis.
The system concludes its structure with the Agency for Beneficiary Service and the Affairs of the Branches concerned with improving services. It follows up on complaints and implements governance on the ground. The agency itself supervises supporting non-profit sector entities and spreading the culture of volunteer work in all regions of the Kingdom.
