Reem Al-Baroudi ends her crisis with a follower and accepts his family’s apology

Egyptian artist Reem Al-Baroudi ended her crisis with one of her followers on social media, after officially accepting his family’s apology, announcing her waiver of taking legal measures, and turning the page on the dispute once and for all.

The settlement step came after the young man’s family intervened to contain the situation and stop the escalation of the crisis, as Reem published on her official Facebook account a message in which she confirmed the acceptance of the apology and her desire to end the dispute in a spirit of tolerance and respect.

She said in her post: “I accepted the apology, and I hope that the matter will not be repeated again, not with any other colleague.” The artist stressed her categorical rejection of any abuse or violations against artists or workers in the artistic community, considering that what happened should be a lesson not to repeat such behavior.

The details of the crisis are due to Reem Al-Baroudi being subjected to an offensive comment from a follower on social media platforms. What initially prompted her to publish a screenshot of the comment, and to announce that an official report had been filed against him at the police department, stressing at the time that any abuse or electronic bullying would not be tolerated.

The artist stressed in her first response that she would resort to the law to obtain her rights, before she later retracted after the family apologized and intervened to end the dispute.

The incident received wide interaction from the public, which was divided between supporters of Reem Al-Baroudi’s position in confronting the abuse, and calling for an end to the crisis after the apology, in light of the growing phenomenon of electronic bullying through social networking sites.
