"Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre" He organizes reading sessions to discuss his publications


ABU DHABI, 23 JUNE / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, through the “Kalima” Reading Club, in cooperation with government institutions and cultural entities, organized a series of reading sessions during the month of June, to discuss books issued by its “Publications” and “Kalima” translation projects, in various locations in Abu Dhabi, targeting various segments of society.
These activities come within the framework of the Center’s keenness to enhance the status of the Arabic language, dedicate its importance as a fundamental pillar of community building, establish the culture of reading as a sustainable lifestyle, and empower community members, especially new generations, with knowledge tools through reading and critical thinking, which supports Arabic content and provides an innovative model in community cultural work, through an interactive experience.
The sessions included significant annual growth in the number of members and participants, according to a timetable, and thoughtful selections of books that meet various cognitive needs. Three reading sessions accompanied by workshops for children, in cooperation with the Kinokuniya Library and Liwa Education, at Kinokuniya Galleria Mall, and the story “What a Laughter” and the story “Why Do We Say Why?” were read. The third session will be held next Friday at five in the evening, to read the story “Slowly, slowly… today is bigger.”
The club also organized a session to discuss the novel “The Seductive Years” by Emirati writer Maryam Al Zarouni, at the Emirates Palace in cooperation with the Al Multaqa Salon… and another session to discuss the book “The Happiness Dilemma” by the writer Ziad Murrar, which dealt through philosophy with the development of human concerns, at Manarat Al Saadiyat. A cultural session will be held in cooperation with the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi, to discuss the novel “The Portrait of a Genie” by the writer Robert Nathan, on the morning of June 29 at the department’s headquarters.
These sessions support the concepts of continuity in reading, expanding cognitive horizons through discussion, and improving critical thinking skills and expressing opinions, which the Center aspires to achieve through the Kalima Reading Club.
(Kalima Reading Club) was launched in 2018 with the aim of creating a qualitative shift in the relationship of community members with reading, and transforming it from a limited individual activity into a sustainable community practice.
The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, through the club and its activities, aims to enable various segments of society to access knowledge of the Arabic language, achieving Abu Dhabi’s strategic vision of promoting the Arabic language and devoting the concept of sustainable reading between generations.
